Lookie What I Found!

Lookie What I Found! from Schiff Gold

Some people have all the luck.

Not me. Well, not good luck. I tell people all the time I could never gamble because I would be broke within weeks. I’m the guy that can jinx the best sports team simply by cheering for them.

Case in point, I am a Tampa Bay Lightning fan. If you follow hockey, you know my pain. The Bolts broke all kinds of records in the regular season. They ended up tied with the 1996 Detroit Red Wings for the most wins ever during the regular season.

And then Tampa Bay went to the playoffs and got swept out in round one by the Columbus Blue Jackets in four straight games.

That’s the Maharrey curse.

So, the story I’m about to tell you would never happen to me.

An Australian family was out for a nice little walk when this guy’s daughter sees a shiny rock lying on the ground. The kid says, “Dad, is this gold?”

Sure enough, it was – a gold nugget worth about $24,000.

As the father told the story to an Australian newspaper:

“I actually walked right past it but my daughter pretty much kicked it as she was walking.”

Yes, this family literally found a gold nugget just lying there on the ground.

And get this – the family dog’s name is Lucky.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Hmmmm… maybe I need to reconsider my pet names.

In another stroke of luck, the family didn’t get robbed when they went to weigh the nugget. They took it to the local IGA supermarket. According to the news report, they couldn’t find anywhere to properly weigh it.

They must live in a whole lot nicer neighborhood than I do. We don’t have a supermarket nearby, but we do have a Circle K. We call it the “stop-n-get-shot.”

Well, the family didn’t get jacked, but they did apparently get some dirty looks for weighing a rock in the grocery store.

They weren’t too happy that we were weighing it at the deli there.”

Imagine that – people being annoyed by random folks weighing rocks on the deli scale – where people put their food.

You have to be happy for this family — once you get past the jealousy. The dad said they were facing some tough times.

We’ve been struggling financially. It couldn’t be better timing really.”

If you ask me, finding a gold nugget any time would be “good timing.” But this isn’t going to happen to me. Remember … the Maharrey curse. I found a $20 lying in an empty parking lot once. I think I probably used up all of my good luck for this lifetime.

And let’s be honest — you might be a lucky soul, but I can almost guarantee you aren’t going to find a gold nugget lying on the ground. I’m about 100% certain this is not your future, even if you don’t live under the Maharrey curse. This isn’t going to discourage the family from trying again though.

It was just a really random find but we will be going back.”

Meanwhile, they are also expecting to get struck by lightning and win the lottery.

No. You’re not going to find gold on the ground. (Probably) But I do know where you’re guaranteed to find gold — at SchiffGold! Now it won’t be free, but we do have pretty darn good prices.

Have a great weekend!
