Green technologies will consume over 1.5 billion ounces of silver over the next twelve years.
The Silver Institute highlighted the growing demand for silver in the green energy sector, along with some new technological innovations utilizing the white metal in its latest edition of Silver News.
According to the Silver Institute, strong growth of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and continued investment in solar photovoltaic energy, should further boost global industrial demand for silver over the next decade and beyond. The institute projects roughly 820 million ounces of silver will be utilized by global solar energy applications alone through 2030.
Battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid sales could account for as much as 17% of global car sales with traditional hybrids making up another 20% of the market by 2030. This will also boost demand for silver.
