Large Eruption in South Japan / Kyushu at Sakurajima Volcano

A large blast has occurred at Sakurajima Volcano in South Japan which produced impressive displays of static discharge lightning.

This view comes from the University of Tokyo Webcams placed around the volcano at a distance.

The Japanese media are reporting a large ash cloud reaching a height of 5000 meters / 15,000 feet .. supposedly not seen since 2013.
