Jeff Brown: Belt and Road Initiative – Peace is Breaking Out All Over
Jeff Brown: Belt and Road Initiative – Peace is Breaking Out All Over by Rory, The Daily Coin
On May 14 and 15, 2017 the first Belt and Road Forum was held in China. The forum was to discuss how this project came about, where it is today and how it will arrive at it’s destination tomorrow. There were more than 125 nations represented, including a Trump appointed delegation from the U.S.. With more than 75 nations already members of the Belt and Road Initiative it seems the entire world wanted to learn more about is happening with this unprecedented global project.
I sat down with Jeff Brown, China Rising, who has been our eyes and ears in the heart of the dragon for the past three years. Jeff has lived in China for a more than 15 years total. His current residency has lasted more than 10 years and, according to Jeff, he is never coming back permanently.
Jeff has written 3 books about China offering a Eastern view to a Western audience. His latest, China is Communist, Dammit, was released just last week. Jeff’s other two books are China Rising: Capitalist Roads, Socialist Destinations and his first in this series, 44 Days Backpacking in China: The Middle Kingdom in the 21st Century, with the United States, Europe and the Fate…
We degin the conversation with an overview of what is happening with the Belt and Road Initiative as most of the Western world has either never heard of about this project or know almost nothing about a project 11 times larger than the Marshall Plan that rebuilt Europe after World War II. The first thing is the name, this project began as the New Silk Road, then morphed into the One Belt, One Road and during the Belt and Road Forum it seems the name of the project has settled into Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). English translation of some of the words has been sticking point and the Committee feel they have finally arrived at a name that will be easy for the English speaking world and will easily translate in Chinese and other languages. With more than 75 nations, currently, involved being able to translate and communicate properly would be a challenge.
The Daily Coin has been covering the Eastern associations for the past five years. We began reporting on the BRICS, and the possibility of Mexico joining even before this website existed. With the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Eurasian Economic Union and now the Belt and Road Initiative the center of commerce, governance and global trade is all shifting East. The Western world needs to put down their guns, stop these wars of aggression and pay attention to the shifting sands under their feet.
The U.S. is the most indebted nation in the history of the world. The U.S. is now the most dangerous nation in the world as, like most trapped/wounded animals, they usually become unstable and a lot of times violent. The warmongers in Washington DC and Langley have been violent for some time, but now that their power is moving away from them, they could begin really showing their teeth.
The BRI will, similarly to the SCO, encompass approximately 60% of the global population, more than 70% of the global commodities, including oil, gold and diamonds – and if Mexico joins the BRICS then silver would be affected as well – and approximately 30% of global GDP. No one is talking about overtaking another nation, telling another nation how to conduct their internal business nor disrupt any other trade a particular nation may already be conducting outside the BRI. Mutual respect and cooperation is the foundation of the BRI, unlike the TPP that, thank goodness, has been moved the dustbin of history.
The potential to change the entire world is now at hand. The potential for our world to be less violent, less war torn and more cooperative is now at hand. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we are all going to be singing Com-ba-yah and holding hands with flowers in our hair, I am suggesting that maybe the world is ready to conduct business instead of conducting war. Maybe the world is ready to breathe a sigh of relief and that’s the reason more than 130 nations were in attendance. Maybe that’s why the BRI has already grown from just over 55 nations to more than 75 nations as the initial phases are being revealed. Maybe the world is ready for some hand holding and flowers in their hair instead having destroyed cities/nations, criminal banking cabals stealing citizens wealth and nations being held hostage by the IMF and Brussels. Anythings possible.
