My example of trying to protect myself from cutting the quality of service and consumables is growing some of my own food and making some of my own food from scratch. My husband has some good handyman skills so that is good. My 93 year old Dad wanted a toaster and my sister had to buy a vintage one off Ebay to satisfy him. I also try to live a minimalist lifestyle to some regard and that helps protect me from the declining value of things. I also use YouTube university and use adblockers when online to protect my time. We have also been successful in getting off mailing lists of all the catalogs and most junk mail by calling them up and this feels really good and freeing.
